Collaboration agreement

The entities territorially interested in the candidacy have signed a memorandum of understanding, committing to support and endorse the candidacy. In particular, the signatory entities, in synergy with other local stakeholders, commit to collaborate in order to promote, in the concerned territories, each within their own competencies and areas of intervention, actions, projects, programs, and strategies for the development of the following main themes:

• The defense of environmental balance and the protection of epigean and hypogean ecosystems;
• The protection and conservation of geosites and the specific geological landscape of the Gypsum;
• The enhancement of the historical, cultural, social, and archaeological aspects of the territories;
• Environmental education for the local population and visitors to the protected areas and surrounding areas;
• Sustainable development of the territory through best practices and the promotion of economic activities.

The entities also agree on the governance and general objectives of the overall management strategy of the candidate areas according to the standards set by UNESCO, delegating the approval of the candidacy proposal to the Emilia-Romagna Region.
