Interregional Park
Regional law 6/2005 defines interregional park as “territorial systems characterized by naturalistic, scientific, historic, cultural and landscape values of particular interest and complexity that due to their geographic position can play a role of connection with protected areas belonging to bordering regions”.
In Emilia-Romagna Region the only interregional park is the one of Sasso Simone and Simoncello, that spreads over the ridge between Emilia-Romagna and Marche. The park, mostly located in Marche, has about 1/3 within the Municipality of Pennabilli in the Marecchia River valley, that in 2009 passed, together with other 6 Municipalities, under the jurisdiction of Emilia-Romagna by referendum. The establishment of interregional parks comes through a regional law ratifying the agreements with the involved Regions.
