- How to reach Lago Scaffaiolo
You can reach Rifugio Duca degli Abruzzi at lago Scaffaiolo starting by train from Bologna or Pistoia and getting to Porretta Terme (http://www.trenitalia.com/tcom-en).
From Porretta Terme train station you can take a bus, line 776 run by Tper, to reach Cavone locality.
From Cavone, you can proceed on foot by following CAI 329 trail leading to Lago Scaffaiolo in about 1 hour and 30’.

You can reach Rifugio Duca degli Abruzzi also by coach, departing from Modena: take bus 731 to Vignola; from there, take bus 730 to Fanano. From Fanano, you can reach Croce Arcana Pass by using a private taxi service (tel. 0039 329 7508292) and from the Pass you can proceed on foot by following CAI 00-AVP trail leading to Lago Scaffaiolo in about 1 hour.
