  • How to reach Hotel Carpe Diem

It is possible to reach the Hotel Carpe Diem at Passo di Pradarena from:

  1. Piazza al Serchio (LU): by the train route Lucca – Aulla (http://www.trenitalia.com/); then take private Taxi to reach Passo Pradarena (M.F. Viaggi di Santi Marisa e C. cell: +39 339 6270797 or cell: +39 348 3580438).
  2. Reggio Emilia: by Bus route 3B74 passing by Castelnuovo nei Monti and Ligonchio. Then from Ligonchio continuing by walk along the paths CAI 609 (up to Ospitaletto) and CAI 643 up to Passo di Pradarena (3 hours).   • How to go back from Hotel Carpe Diem

From Passo di Pradarena it is possible to reach:

  1. Piazza al Serchio (LU) by private Taxi (M.F. Viaggi di Santi Marisa e C. cell: +39 339 6270797 or cell: +39 348 3580438); then continue by the train route Lucca – Aulla (http://www.trenitalia.com/)
  2. Reggio Emilia by Bus route 3B74 passing by Ligonchio and Castelnuovo nei Monti; to reach Ligonchio from Passo di Pradarena follow the paths CAI 609 (up to Ospitaletto) and CAI 643. The buses’ timetables are available at the following link http://www.setaweb.it/re/linee#re2 .

Stage Rifugio Rio Re

  • How to reach Rifugio Rio Re

You can reach the Rifugio Rio Re starting from Reggio Emilia by coach, reaching first Castelnuovo nei Monti and proceeding to Ligonchio (line 3B74). From Ligonchio, you can proceed on foot by following CAI 609 and CAI 637 trails, leading to the refuge in about 1 hour. From the Ligonchio di Sopra village (982 m) follow the proviancial road to Passo Praderna, passing the buildings of Laghi. After those buildings, take a left turn on CAI 609-637 trail, beginning as a paved road and continuing among hedges and planted conifer forests, following the old mule track that lead to Ospitaletto long before the road was built. Pass the Rio Re though the ford (beware of rainy seasons or of melting snow: if that’s the case, take the ford bare feet). On the opposite side of the creek, walk around the fence of a water caption point, taking a left turn on CAI 637 trail, that climbs the small valley. Little after that you reach the forestry road from Ospitaletto, that climbs along the stream and ends at Rifugio Rio Re , located at 1343 m.

  • How to come back from Rifugio Rio Re

From Rifugio Rio Re you can go back to Ligonchio in about 1 hour on foot by following  CAI 609 and CAI 637 trails. From Ligonchio you can reach Reggio Emilia, via Castenuovo nei Monti, by bus (line 3B74).
