• How to reach Rifugio Monte Cavallo

You can reach Ponte della Venturina by train starting from Bologna (trains every hour) or Pistoia (trains every 2 hours) (http://www.trenitalia.com/tcom-en).
From Porretta Terme you reach Ponte della Venturina by bus (lines 766, 768, 797) run by Tper. For information on schedules and routes of buses between Porretta Terme and Ponte della Venturina  you can visit http://www.tper.it/orari/linee (in Italian) or you can call the customer care service at 0039 051 290290 all days from 7.00 to 20.00.
From Ponte della Venturina you can proceed on foot by following CAI 131 and then CAI 101-AVP trails that lead to Rifugio Monte Cavallo in about 3 hours and 30’.

• How to come back from Rifugio Monte Cavallo

From the refuge walk by following CAI 101-AVP and then CAI 131 trails down to Ponte della Venturina, or else CAI 101 trail until Porretta Terme.
From Porretta Terme or from Ponte della Venturina  you can proceed by train to Bologna or Pistoia (http://www.trenitalia.com/tcom-en).
