BERCETO – PASSO DEL CERRETO

Three stage of great beauty but also quite demanding, for their length and their gradients. From the Duomo of Berceto a stretch of the modern via Francigena will lead you to the ridge trail where, surrounded by meadows, kettle fences, beech woods and newly planted forests, beautiful grasslands with many ups and downs and with magnificent views on the Lunigiana and Parma region , you will reach to Lago Santo parmense, and to the historic Rifugio Mariotti. On day 2, the protagonist is the high mountain environment with its rocky ridges and moorlands, small lakes and ponds that fill the ancient glacial depression: Lago Bicchiere, Lago Scuro and the Lagoni, Laghi Sillara and Compione, until the Lago Verde and finally to lake Ballano. Day 3 will be demanding, especially after the previous days efforts, but from the point of view of the environment and landscape it’s the most beautiful stage of the whole route: the lakes Verdarolo, Scuro and Squincio, the Ghiaccioni plateau,  and then the Pietra Tagliata Pass and finally the  springs of the Secchia river  just before reaching the Cerreto Pass.
