Some remarks about soil and soil consumption are reported as a basic reference for discussing. They are extracted from some of the documents presented at the 7th EUREGEO meeting, Bologna, 12-15 June 2012. Soil is conceived as common good and as a limited, largely non-renewable resource, which is the necessary and prime element for the existence of all living beings.
